Worcester resident with bad driving record risk to public

Car accidents occur almost everywhere and Worcester, Massachusetts, is no exception. There are many factors that can cause accidents and drunk driving is one major factor. A driver should never drink and drive because when alcohol is consumed, perception and judgment are diminished and the driver may easily lost control of the vehicle and an accident can easily occur. Drunk driving may cause several injuries and the consequences are often more dangerous than they are with other accidents.

A Worcester man had his license reinstated in July of this year after one year of revocation. Immediately after getting his license back, the accused man had a fatal car accident while driving while intoxicated. The man's license had been suspended in 2011 after he was charged with driving while impaired in the state of New York.

After the accident occurred, the man was admitted to the hospital, which resulted in his court hearing being postponed. However, law enforcement authorities smelled alcohol on the man following the accident, and, given his past history, his driver's license was immediately suspended on an indefinite basis.

A driver's license suspension is an extremely serious issue. If a driver's license is revoked, authorities need to determine whether reinstatement is warranted following the revocation period. Allowing negligent people to have a license can potentially be harmful to the public. The consequences of operating a vehicle under the influence can be dire. Victims who are injured in drunk driving accidents may be eligible for compensation from the accused for medical expenses. Compensation for physical, physiological and emotional damages are all considered in such claims.
